What is a class?

Trade marks are registered in what are known as classes or categories of business. These relate to goods/services that you may wish to protect the mark for. A full list of goods/services can be found here. An Australian application can only be made for one class – if further classes are required then these are made in a separate application.

Please note that one of the reasons many people have problems with their trade marks is because of the classes and specifications within those classes.
