Copyright Rights Clearance can be a tricky business. If you want to use a piece of music, or an image, or even a building in your own work, then you will require some sort of clearance or permission from the copyright owner.
Our clearance services consist of 3 main stages:-
1. Working with you to help identify the permissions you will require.
2. Contacting the owner(s) of the rights in order to seek their permission - typically such a permission will form the basis for a licence between yourself and the rights holder.
3. Negotiating a rate for that permission. (You should try to be as clear from the start as to your intention as regards the scope of your work. For example, if your work is to be web only and intended for primarily a UK audience, then any licence fees should be less than a worldwide licence to use the work in different mediums, such as print or TV. It it easier to negotiate at the start of a process, rather than having to re-negotiate later with a rights holder.)
Our fees for these services are as follows:-
Initial instruction £395 - this covers the initial evaluation of the rights, our contact with the rights owner and negotiation with the owner for the use of the rights. (Please note that this initial instruction fee covers our services as they relate to a single right or right owner. It may be that we are able to deal with a bundle of rights with a single owner in one negotiation, for which a single initial instruction fee will be charged).
Final Fee - 10% of the agreed use fee. (Please note that this is paid in addition to any use fee payable to the rights owner). Contact us by email or by telephone on 01481 722722 in order to discuss your requirements and to start the process of obtaining the rights you need.
