UK Registered Design Rights
There are 2 types of design rights in the UK - registered and unregistered design rights.
A registered design right gives you a monopoly over the design, whereas an unregistered right only gives you the ability to prevent others from copying your design. This means that the scope of protection of an unregistered design right is lower than than that of a registered design.
A registered design lasts for 5 years and is renewable for periods of 5 years up to a total of 25 years.

We have made it far simpler for owners of unregistered design rights to evidence their work and to help them when it comes to disputes.
Our system couldn't be easier - you purchase deposits at a rate per item - the more you deposit the cheaper it gets. Once you have paid for the deposits simply send us your work in any format such as disk, CD or DVD and we will independently register it for you and send you a dated certificate of deposit.
You can send items by post or by e-mail if you prefer at designs@iplab.co.uk
Our charges are as follows:-
1 item - £29 per item
2-5 items - £23.20 per item (-20%)
6-20 items - £17.40 per item (-40%)
21+ items - £9.57 per item (-66.66%)
You are free to use your deposit credits at any time and they never go out of date.
Our unregistered design right registration lasts 5 years and no other fees are payable.
