 | Stages to registration - UK and EU
1. Purchase a trade mark application for the country of your choice from our product list.
2. If you require more than the minimum number of classes then please purchase these as required.
3. When filling in your name and address details you will be asked for details of the mark to be registered - please type this in the space provided. If you have a logo to register please email this to us separately here.
4. Once we have received your request one of our trademark specialists will review your request and then contact you regarding the specific goods and services you require for your application. This will normally be within 1 working day of receiving your request.
5. If you have ordered it, we will also conduct a search of existing marks to see if your proposed mark is likely to be conflicted. We will inform you of the search results as soon as possible, but usually within 48 hours. If the search reveals marks which would seem to cause you a problem with your application, we will only charge you the search fee of £99.
6. Once we have agreed a specification with you and we have cleared the mark after searching we will make the application on your behalf to the relevant trademark registry.
7. In the case of the UK most applications are looked at within 2 months. For EU applications this process can take 6 months.
8. We will contact you as soon as your application has been accepted.
9. The next stage is to see whether any third party raises opposition proceedings against your application. In the event that this is the case we will contact you and discuss the way in which you wish to proceed. Our application fees do not include any opposition fees and we would give you a written estimate of any costs before proceeding.
10. Once past the opposition stage your mark will be registered. This usually takes 6-7 months from the date of application in the UK and up to 2 years in the EU. Protection for the mark starts from the date of application. No further fees are payable in the UK. In the EU approximately £1000 are payable at registration - we will contact you at this time to confirm that you wish to proceed with these charges.
That's it! We wish you well with your trademark applications. |
