EU Registered Design Right

A registered design right gives you a monopoly over the design, whereas an unregistered right only gives you the ability to prevent others from copying your design. This means that the scope of protection of an unregistered design right is lower than than that of a registered design.

A design right protects the look of a product against others copying it. No distinction is made as to size, material or colour, so the protection can be wide ranging.

Our EU registered design right covers all 27 of the EU, including the UK and Ireland and lasts for 5 years, after which time it can be renewed up to a total period of 25 years.
